Do you sometimes feel that life is passing you by? Do you wonder why wonderful things happen to others, but not to you? Follow these 10 steps and begin to lead a phenomenal life.
Each year spring clean your life. Discard anything that weighs you down. Get rid of past hurts, betrayals and anger. Do away with irritations. Tidy your house and office.
Get organized. Tidy your mind. Throw out beliefs and habits that no longer work for you.
Get rid of neediness. Needing to look good. Needing approval or recognition from others.
Reduce contact with people who weigh you down, and destroy your spirit. Stop using or listening to excuses and blaming because these are habits that prevent you from achieving the greatness you have within you.
Get rid of negative habits and beliefs from your life-and become light as a feather.
Look at your life with an eagle's perspective.
Look at your life from a distance. Look at the problems you are facing right now from a different perspective. Imagine a time in the distant future. Imagine you are at the end of your life. How would you view today’s problem from there?
How would a wise observer see your life today? How would a child see it? Think of someone wise you admire. Maybe a person who inspired you in your life? What would they say about your problem?
“In everyone’s life at some time our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should be thankful for those people who rekindle the human spirit.” Albert Schweitzer.
What gives you energy? Who energizes you? What destroys your energy? Who makes you feel weary? What/who makes you feel special/good about yourself? Who/what makes you feel bad about yourself? What wishes or daydreams do you have that make you feel happy or excited?
Think back on your life. What achievements have you had? What works for you? What doesn’t? What insights have you gained in life? Follow the path that gives you energy and makes you feel good.
Choose to spend your precious time and energy with people and on things that rekindle your spirit.
What is your passion?
Have you ever been in a situation where you have been so engrossed in what you are doing, that you’ve lost all sense of time and self? This total sense of focus often happens when you are working on something you love, or something that provides you with meaning.
How can you spend more of your time and life, doing things you love? How can you do more of what makes you feel truly alive?
Know that anytime you choose to change your life.
You can create the life you want. And when you get bored with that life, you can choose to create a new life for yourself again.
You can reinvent your life as often as you want. You can keep creating new dreams and follow your energy where-ever it flows.
Dreams are those precious moments when you imagine yourself doing something different in the future.
Dreams that make you feel good about yourself are powerful because they remind you of your special purpose in life. Don’t ignore your dreams. They contain the seeds of your own personal magic.
If you find it hard to dream, then try to answer the the following questions for yourself:
Other ways to uncover your dreams is to keep a journal. Every day before you have had your morning coffee, and while you’re feeling a bit sleepy, write 6 pages in a journal. About anything. What you’ll find is initially you’ll write about things that aren't working for you. Later, your wise self will start asking you questions about what you could become. As you answer your these questions, your passions and dreams will emerge.
Henry David Thoreau says “Go confidently in the directions of your dreams. Live the life you’ve imagined. As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler.”
Achieving a dream is never easy. Many people around you will tell you why you can’t achieve your dreams. They will say you aren’t ‘enough.’ Everyone has a Mr. or Mrs. NotGoodEnough in their lives. Don’t give them power. They will destroy you and your spirit with their comments:
Courage is the power to deal with pain, fear or danger. Every day, we face our responsibilities to others. Why don’t we use our courage to make ourselves happy?
But remember. You are enough. You have enough. All you need to achieve anything great in life is energy, courage, determination, and a willingness to learn new things. If you can dream it, you can achieve it.
Let's talk about courage. So many people remain trapped in lives they hate because they believe they don’t have the courage to set new boundaries – and say “NO” to what makes them unhappy.
Yet, we already have all the courage we need. All we need to do is direct it away from what others demand of us, to things that will make us happy. Things that will help us live extraordinary lives.
The first and hardest lesson to learn about success is to recognise that achieving your dream is up to you.
Others may say they want to help you, but don’t rely on them to achieve your dream. Your dream is energising you – not them. And it is your energy that is going to make it happen.
To achieve a dream you need to have the courage to take the first step towards your dream and the discipline to take a small step towards your dream every day. Imagine the distance you will have travelled after a year, or two years, simply by taking one small step a day.
Patience and discipline transforms the acorn into the mighty oak.
When you travel on any dream journey, obstacles will appear in your path. That is a natural part of achieving anything great in life. When barriers appear, don’t get despondent.
Get creative. There is always another way to achieve the same result. The more barriers you step over, the stronger you will become.
Remember to play. Play nourishes the soul. It restores your energy. Go to places that nourish the child in you. Laugh. Giggle. Be silly.
Sometimes as busy adults, finding the time to play, is one of the difficult things imaginable. Julia Cameron suggests in “The Artists Way”, that every month you make an ‘artists date’ with yourself. You take yourself away on your own, to a place that feels like a treat. A place where you have no responsibility. A place where you can reconnect with your inner child.
It is important that once you've booked your date with yourself in your diary, that you keep it. Life seems to have a way of creating adult crises that will try to prevent you from taking time out for your inner child. As you are about to leave for your date, your boss, colleague or customer is likely to interrupt you with a crisis. Or, you will lose your wallet or car keys. You will be tempted to back out of your date as this would be the responsible thing to do. But doing so, will destroy your energy and creativity. Keep to your date and you will return rejuvenated and ready to tackle anything.
"Half the work that is done in the world is to make things appear what they are not.” E R Beadle
Don’t simply be ‘transparent’. Be translucent. This means being truly yourself. Being authentic. Living your way. Creating your own rules. Living by your own credo.
Never pretend. Often we pretend because we want people to like us or respect us. Yet it usually has the opposite effect. People intuitively know when someone is pretending. It is something we can’t put our finger on, but when people pretend, we feel they are hiding something. We just feel we can’t trust them. When we don’t trust someone, we don’t respect them.
When you pretend you destroy your own energy, and self confidence. You destroy the beauty within you. And you create stress for yourself in having to keep living a lie. What a waste of time, effort and energy.
Be authentic. Be yourself. Live your own life. Create your own rules. Let your own light shine through your wings. And lead an extraordinary, phenomenal life.
